Realm of Endless Forest and Memory-Maze
A thorn-choked wilderness with shifting paths that lead into memories or across lives.
Forests grow in impossible directions—some trees root into sky or into the past. Strange fauna and flora abound here. Descriptions often resemble old fairy stories involving the woods. ‘Red Hiding Hood’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘Goldilocks’ and even the thorns of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ are all thought to have evolved from stories of those who may have escaped this realm. When more of the country was forested or wilderness, then the Briar Reaches may have taken a larger number of victims.
Most of those who become victims of this realm today come into contact with it while in woodland or forest, often becoming lost in strange mists or other weathers. Some walk for years and years before wandering back to reality without realising how long they have been gone. Others find themselves captives or servants of some of the many inhabitants of this realm, and rarely manage to escape. To do so they must remember the path they walked to get there, not just walk it.
Native flora and fauna may also wander off from the Briar Reaches into our world occasionally: sometimes causing death and chaos, sometimes giving us a rare glimpse into another dimension.
