Lady Rue

Aliases: Mother Rue, The Green Midwife, Bramble-Wife

Description:

Humanoid female of indeterminate age, approximately 1.6m in height. Skin tinted olive-green with visible leaf-veining beneath surface. Hands stained with chlorophyll. Smell of crushed herbs and rot accompanies manifestation.

Nature and Behaviour:

Caretaker of the Reaches’ herb-gardens — zones of poison, cure, and metamorphosis. Possesses encyclopaedic botanical knowledge, spanning mundane and fae flora.

She treats mortals as patients or test subjects, brewing tinctures that heal one ailment while inflicting another. Payment often demanded in sensory memories, especially touch or scent. Capricious but not overtly malevolent; harm is often the by-product of indifference rather than cruelty.

Field Notes:

One recovered subject (File 1785-BR) displayed dual personality imprint: half mortal, half plant consciousness, alternating hourly. Believed to be result of Rue’s “balancing draught.”

Containment Protocols:

Engage only via remote observation. Do not ingest any offered substance. Burn rue and marigold if presence is detected.
