Fieldbound Nails

Description: A set of rusted iron nails, each still wrapped in fragments of blood-stained twine. The nails vary in length, from short, thick spikes to long, slender needles. They are pitted and flecked with old rust, with a metallic tang that lingers in the air around them.

Acquisition: Pulled from a scarecrow discovered at the center of a crop circle in 1968. The scarecrow, unlike others, had no visible support pole, its arms spread wide in a grotesque, welcoming gesture. When the nails were removed, the entire structure collapsed, the straw within spilling out like blood from a wound.

Known Effects: The nails have a strange magnetism, causing other metal objects to bend or twist when brought near. In some cases, compasses malfunction in their presence, spinning aimlessly. Some researchers have reported brief, flickering visions of shadowy figures in the corners of their eyes when handling the nails, though no definitive proof of these manifestations has been recorded.

Current Location: Kept in a reinforced lead-lined box in Section 4, Shelf 9 of the vault. The box is etched with protective runes and stored on a separate metal rack to prevent interference with the vault’s electronic systems.
