The Girl Who Danced in the Stars
Origin: Kent festival field, 1969
Before Captivity:
Linda was seventeen in the summer of love. The oldest of five in a conservative household, she escaped to a local music festival with friends. Beneath the stars, she danced until dawn. At some point, someone offered her a hand from the crowd, and she took it—never noticing the grass curling away under her feet.
In Faylinn:
Linda became a starlit dancer, the centerpiece of a rotating ballroom suspended above a void. She danced with faceless suitors—figures stitched from starlight and sorrow. The floor was transparent glass; beneath it, blackness stretched on forever. She never touched the ground again. Her body adapted: light-footed, breathless, untethered.
After Return:
Three years later, she returned barefoot, dazed, covered in dew. Her feet now hover just slightly above the ground when she dances, as if the world isn’t quite real to her anymore. Flowers bloom unnaturally in her presence. She owns a quiet florist’s shop where unusual things sometimes sprout, and dances only in secret.
