Liam O’Donoghue: public perception

Role: Social Media & Misinformation Control Officer, FDG Public Perception Division

Background:
Liam O’Donoghue used to live online. In 2010, buried in forums and digital rabbit holes, he posted a short clip to a fringe cryptid site: grainy footage of a man turning toward the camera, his eyes blinking horizontally—like a reptile, but golden. The post was up for less than two hours before it vanished. So did his account. So did the original file.

He expected a warning. Maybe a knock at the door. Instead, he received a plain envelope with a burner phone and the message: You’re not wrong. Want to help us stay ahead?

Liam now works within the FDG’s Public Perception Division, orchestrating misinformation campaigns, staged leaks, and digital noise operations. His job is not to erase the truth—it’s to drown it. He seeds fakes, floods tags, and makes sure that when someone gets too close, they’re dismissed as “just another Liam.”

Skills:

  • Specialist in digital subterfuge, algorithm manipulation, and viral narrative redirection
  • Maintains multiple burner identities across conspiracy, crypto-fauna, and paranormal communities
  • Creates convincing false leaks and “fan hoaxes” to cover real surveillance footage
  • Trained in rapid response suppression for unexpected civilian captures of fae activity

Liam can make a real event disappear in 72 hours—by making it go viral the wrong way.

Personality:
Witty, sardonic, and always online. Liam speaks in memes and cynicism but takes his job more seriously than he lets on. Still carries traces of his old paranoia, double-checking room reflections and running scripts to scan his own uploads for interference. May act casual, but nothing gets past him.

Motive:
To protect the truth by flooding the signal. Liam still remembers the moment those golden eyes turned toward the lens. He’d rather help obscure the truth than let it fall into the wrong hands—or worse, be believed.
