Shard of the Shardhorn

Description:
A jagged, translucent fragment of crystalline horn, cold to the touch and faintly humming with an eerie resonance. The shard glimmers with fractured light, reflecting and distorting the environment in unsettling ways. It carries the psychic imprint of the Shardhorn’s madness-inducing power, capable of warping perceptions and reality.

Recovery Notes:
Recovered from the site of a known Shardhorn attack near the Glass Plains border. The shard was embedded in fractured glass and organic material. Recovery teams noted temporal distortions and reported auditory hallucinations during extraction, necessitating immediate evacuation and ritual cleansing.

Function and Believed Use:

Believed to be both a weapon fragment and a psychic conduit. The shard can induce hallucinations, temporal dissonance, and mental fragmentation in those who come into contact with it. It may have been used by the Pale Country’s denizens as a tool of control or a curse-bearing relic.

Known Incidents:

Incident 9D: A field operative exposed to the shard experienced severe disorientation, hearing fractured voices and suffering from lapses in time perception.
Incident 14K: Unauthorized handling led to widespread confusion and the temporary collapse of a nearby containment field, nearly allowing other artifacts to escape.

Containment Protocol:
Stored in a vibration-dampening, lead-lined case with ambient noise generators to neutralize psychic resonance.
Handling restricted to personnel with enhanced psychic shielding and under constant surveillance.
No direct physical contact permitted; tools and protective gloves must be used.
Immediate decontamination and mental health evaluation required after exposure.
