The Drowned Lady of Fenmere

Aliases: The Lady Below, The Bride of the Blackwater, She-Who-Waits-in-Reeds

Description:

Manifestation resembles a pale, waterlogged woman with hair flowing like riverweed and skin of bluish pallor. Clothing appears as tattered lace interwoven with silt, shells, and reeds. Frequently accompanied by faint phosphorescent glow and scent of damp decay.

Nature and Behaviour:

Regarded as the reigning matron of the Mire Court’s upper waters. Claims dominion over drowned souls and unburied dead within fen and marsh. Known to lure wanderers through reflection— victims perceive her as kin or lost lovers.

Beneath her calm demeanour lies a possessive, devotional hunger. Those who accept her “comfort” are slowly submerged, their bodies never recovered. Souls remain animate under the water as pale shapes, attending her court.

Field Notes:

Mirror and surface-water contact linked to auditory hallucination (female voice requesting “silence”). Witnesses describe an overwhelming desire to wade deeper. Recorded EM fluctuations consistent with other fae reflection events.

Containment Protocols:

Prohibit unsupervised reflection study within fenland perimeters. Avoid direct gaze into standing water after dusk. Should manifestation occur, disrupt surface tension with salt or stone before retreat.
