Classification: Marsh Emissary Token
Material: Feathers from the Heron Prince’s court, encased in binding resin
Recovered: On the banks of the Drowned Path, pinned to the heart of a stag carcass with no wounds
Description:
An inky black feather, almost glassy in texture, sealed in translucent resin. It vibrates slightly when fae emissaries are near and leaves cold streaks when placed against skin.
Properties:
- Acts as a diplomatic token among marsh-dwelling fae
- Allows brief understanding of heron-speech, the symbolic, shifting language used in Mirecourt
- May be offered in barter for protection, travel rights, or silence
Known Usage:
One of a known set of six “Black Forms” granted to human intermediaries. The feather’s gift is temporary—once used in trade, it turns to smoke.
Warning:
Attempting to break the pinion or pry the resin open results in a summons—the Heron Prince appears, or sends something in his stead.
