Subject: C. Thomsen, 37, Forest Surveyor
Location: North Downs woodland boundary
Summary:
While surveying land for a potential railway extension, Thomsen entered a narrow pass between two ancient Glimmerthorn hedges. According to his testimony, he “saw a girl made of briars offering him a red cord” and “felt like it would be rude to say no.” When he awoke, twelve hours had passed, his compass spun in place, and his boots were tied together with the red thread.
Excerpt from Statement:
“She asked me what I’d leave behind to pass through. I thought it was a joke. I laughed. Then she said, ‘Then I’ll take your direction.’ That’s when I blacked out.”
Artefact Collected:
The red cord, now stiff with sap, cannot be untied. It hums when the compass is near it.
Status:
Thomsen now has no sense of direction—even indoors. He can walk for hours and always ends up back at the hedge path. He refers to the forest as “Her garden now.”
