Subject: Jeremy Wint, 29, amateur folklorist
Location: Shere Wood, borderland clearing
Summary:
Wint posted online about a tree in the Briar Reaches “that feeds when you confess to it.” He invited readers to whisper their secrets into the hollow trunk. Over 800 people participated within two weeks, and thirteen later reported recurring dreams of thorns growing in their mouths. Wint vanished shortly after. His phone was recovered inside the hollow.
Last Recorded Audio (Phone Memo):
[Heavy wind, creaking branches]
“It’s not a tree, it’s a mouth. A big one. You can tell because it listens without blinking. I think it likes things it shouldn’t know.”
Field Note:
The “tree” has bark matching Echo-Bark, but it pulses faintly when secrets are told near it. Root structure suggests a much larger mass underground.
