The Thorn-Mother

(Weaver of the Wild Threads)

  • Appearance: Enormous and semi-rooted, like a tree grown in the shape of a crone. Her body is draped in vines and cracked bark, and her hair flows with black moss and thorn blossoms. Her mouth is a hollow wound filled with whispering petals.
  • Personality: Unknowable and ancient. Alternates between predatory tenderness and vast cruelty. Speaks in riddles wrapped around folk rhymes.
  • Abilities:
    • Pathweaving: Shapes the very trails of the Briar Reaches by binding memories into bramble. People get lost when she rewrites their footsteps.
    • Memory Harvest: Feeds on emotional memory—especially guilt, love, and betrayal.
    • Dream-Stitching: Can enter the dreams of those lost in her forest and shape them into traps or escape routes.
  • Domain: Her throne is woven into the highest, upside-down tree in the Reaches, where branches reach toward forgotten skies.
  • Rumors: Some say she was once human. Others claim she is the forest’s vengeance, born from the first betrayal between sisters.
