The Wither-Knife

Description: A curved, bone-handled knife, its blade etched with twisting, root-like patterns that seem to shift when viewed from different angles. The handle is warm to the touch, despite being made of aged, yellowed bone, and a dark, sap-like residue clings to the blade’s edge.

Acquisition: Retrieved from the tangled roots of an ancient oak tree in 1947, after a series of strange deaths among the hop-pickers of Kent. The knife was found embedded in a twisted root, its blade still wet with a dark, congealed substance that gave off a faint, musky odor.

Known Effects: The blade is said to cut not just flesh, but the life force itself, draining vitality from those it wounds. Some who have touched the knife have reported brief, intense visions of blackened fields and withered crops, their hands tingling as if plunged into cold soil.

Current Location: Kept in a reinforced, glass-fronted cabinet, Section 9, Row 4, surrounded by iron charms and dried herbs to contain its influence.
